GM India to update Chevrolet Spark by end-2012

Chevrolet Spark Electric - FrontView

Recently, we brought you a first spy picture of the rear of the facelifted Chevrolet Spark which was spotted in Pune with light camouflage. Though the spy picture does not reveal much on the exteriors, but as per our expectations from a new Spark, we expect an improved front fascia to adopt styling cues similar to what was showcased in the Auto Expo 2010 by the electric Spark. However, it is expected to hit our showrooms by end-this year.

On the exterior, the Chevrolet Spark facelift would be heavily influenced by Chevrolet’s traditional styling cue – the twin-port honeycomb grille and a bigger Chevrolet logo (already seen in Cruze & Beat also). Also the car would feature a new fog lights and new outside rear-view mirrors with integrated turn-lights. It would also boast of a totally new and improved rear-end. Coming to the interior, the car will get a minor tweak.

Earlier we reported the new Spark may get 800cc petrol engine, but now sources close to us reveal it would be a pure facelift with no minor or major changes in the engine specifications and other mechanics remain untouched.

Chevrolet India or General Motors India has planned for updating the styles and designs to all its legacy models (vehicles phased out globally, but still in production in India) will be carried out at its technical centre, which is located in Bangalore. Tavera Neo 3, which was rolled out not much time back was also updated at the same facility.
