Many South Asian countries are facing the problem of public urination. It is even more evident in India. Irrespective of time, you will come across men urinating in alleys or on walls in public. It is not just the lack of public toilets but also poor sense of public decency and lack of understanding of hygiene that is leading to this problem. A lot many social activists and various organizations have put in so much effort in organizing campaigns and spreading awareness regarding the issue to resolve it.
Fighting Public Urination with Water Canon, the ‘Pissing Tanker’
Campaigns have been held in Delhi where the walls were cleaned, painted and maintained while the people urinating in public in Rajasthan were shamed by blowing whistles and beating drums. But none of these have worked well to leave any successful impact.The question that still persists in the mind is how people can be stopped from urinating in public. Well, a new activist group has decided to take some initiated. The anonymous anti-public urination group named ‘The Clean Indian’, has decided to try a new potential scheme to stop people from urinating in public in Mumbai.
This new scheme is their Pissing Tanker. This huge yellow water tanker will roam around the city spraying water canon on those urinating in public. To conceal their identities, the group members riding the tanker will wear masks. A recent video of this water canon has been uploaded over internet. One can also view pictures posted by the group on their Twitter account. The Clean Indian group has a very straight motto: ‘You Stop. We Stop.’
The group has been receiving mixed response from the viewers. We as well as a large section of Indians are hoping that this unique, quirky solution by The Clean Indian group may achieve some success and contribute in tackling with this issue.
