Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione launched in India – Priced at Rs. 29.85 lakh

Italian car maker, Fiat has launched its flagship model the Abarth 595 Competizione in India at a price of Rs. 29.85 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). At the event, the company also showcased the Punto Abarth which is expected to make its India debut by Oct-2015.

Coming back to the Abarth 595 Competizione, this little exotic car will compete against the will compete with the only other performance-focussed premium hatchback in the country – the Mini Cooper S. It will be imported into the country as a full CBU (Completely-Built-Unit) unit and will be sold through 5 selected dealers in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Design-wise, the Abarth 595 Competizione sports sportier bumpers, body graphics, Abarth badges, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, graphite finishes on ORVMs, HID headlights, a Monza twin exhaust system and 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 205/40 section tyres. Further it gets Xenon headlamps and rear parking sensors.

Step-inside, you’ll see an interior almost carried from Fiat 500 base version, of-course with high quality upholstery, sabelt seats and dashboard is finished in graphite. The ‘Competizione’ package adds sporty touches to the car, like aluminium pedals, footrest and door kick-plates, bespoke floor mats, automatic aluminum fuel and oil filler caps. Other features include multi-function steering wheel, a TFT instrument cluster, infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, turbo boost gauge with gear shift indicator and electric sunroof.

The major highlight of the Abarth 595 Competizione is the engine. This engine is powered by a 1.4-litre, which belts out 158bhp at 5500rpm and 201Nm of torque at 2750rpm. This output is available while running in ‘Normal’ mode but the torque can be increased to 230Nm in ‘Sports’ mode. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automated manual transmission with paddle shifters. The company claims that the little hatch can touch a 0-100 kph sprint in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 210 kph.
