Dilip Chabaria’s DC design is known for designing concept cars, prototypes and stylised vehicles for celebrities. And, at times, they do a pretty good job at it. Which is why, we think, they should stick to this route and not waste time building something they’re not good at, probably manufacturing cars. The company has already showcased the India’s first-ever sports car, DC Avanti at the 2012 Auto Expo in an production avatar, now at the 2014 Auto Expo DC is all-set to unveil the 4-seater convertible SUV and an extremely small car, smaller than the Nano.

Dilip Chhabria told Financial Express, that the new SUV as a ‘drop dead gorgeous’ car that is extremely irrational but one that will find a definite audience while the smaller two-seater car will be sub-7 feet in size. Both the products will be priced in the Rs 18 lakh to Rs 40 lakh and will target a niche, young audience. Also added saying that the first batch of 25 cars of the DC Avanti will also be handed over to customers during the India’s largest motoring event at a committed price of 25 lakh INR initially and later the price will be hiked by at least Rs. 5 lakh.

By the June of 2014, DC will have the capacity to produce 100 units of the Avanti every month at its Talegaon plant in Pune, Maharashtra. The Talegaon plant has a capacity to manufacture around 1,000 cars a month. The production of the two new cars is slated to begin in a couple of years. DC Design has 14 showrooms across the country and plans to add another three by February.
