Here are the officially released sketches of the upcoming Nissan’s entry-level hatchback based on Renault Kwid, the redi-GO.
So far there are no clear spy pictures or leaked images of the car, the baby Datsun will be globally unveiled in next couple of days at New Delhi on April 14th but the market introduction will be in end-May. Pricing is speculated to be the highlight of the redi-GO with an expected figure of around Rs. 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model.
Although the redi-GO shares underpinnings with the Kwid it will be completely different in character with sleeker and sportier looks, unlike its cousin Kwid which has a mini-SUV character. The teased exterior pictures reveal that the production redi-GO is true to the concept it had debuted at the Auto Expo 2014.
The production car features the same silhouette design with sporty rear profile, further sports a hexagonal honeycomb pattern grille with chrome and twin character lines running across the front to the rear. On the inside, the redi-GO will be quite different than any of its siblings, however, it will borrow some equipment from the Kwid.
Mechanically, the redi-Go is likely to be powered by the Renault Kwid’s 53 hp/74 Nm 0.8-litre 3 cyl petrol engine mated to 5-speed manual transmission.
