Customer’s Mahindra XUV500 given for service, goes missing from service centre

Mr. P Jayaram, a senior executive in an infrastructure firm had sent his XUV500 to an authorized Mahindra service centre for routine servicing, he was expecting to get back his SUV in a few days. But the experience turned-out to be a nightmare, thanks to poor response by the repair centre. It was only after the interference by Anand Mahindra, chairman of the automobile company, that Jayaram got some relief.

On August 30, Mr. P Jayaram, a senior executive in a firm had sent his XUV500 to an authorized Mahindra service centre for routine servicing at Global Gallarie Agencies Private Ltd in Manpada. The vehicle was supposed to be returned in a few days but Jayaram was informed the next day itself that his car went missing from the service centre. The staff at the service centre told that Jayaram’s driver must have taken the car.

After the officials failed to explain him how the car could have been taken out without their knowledge, Jayaram made his driver register a complaint with Kapurbawdi police station the same day. 6 days later, he sent a legal notice to Global Gallarie. On September 16, he also wrote an email to M&M chief. On September 18, Jayaram received a reply from Anand Mahindra, assuring him that his concerns would be looked into. It was only then the agency officials sprung into action and offered him a standby car.

Jayaram, who had spent Rs. 14 lakh when he bought the vehicle about 18 months ago, said he made his driver lodge the complaint as the service centre first put the blame on him. “I want a fair compensation and action against the concerned employee. The agency now says they can compensate me only after my insurance claim is settled, which will happen after 90 days.”

A spokesperson from M&M said, “Our dealer is taking all necessary action at its end to address this issue and the dealer has agreed to take care of customer’s mobility in the interim period by offering a standby vehicle”

Big question arise, is how can anyone take the SUV out of the service centre without a gate pass or any security checks?
