BMW 5-Series facelift – FrontView
The German luxury car manufacturer, BMW first showcased the sixth-generation 5-Series at Geneva Motor Show, earlier this year. Now the company has launched this 6th Generation mid-range Executive Luxury Sedan 5-Series in India at Rs 46.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in 4 trims, BMW 520d Modern, 520d Luxury, 525d Luxury Plus and 530d M Sport, the new BMW 5-Series is now available across all BMW India outlets.
Compared to the outgoing model, the updated versions include a slightly more pronounced front grille, chrome surrounds for the front fog lamps, updated front and rear apron, re-styled lower air intakes and slimmer, updated tail-lamps. The side turn indicators are now integrated with the wing mirrors. The new BMW 5-Series gets new-design alloy wheels and more paint shades. Other standard equipment includes Xenon headlamps and LED fog lamps. Adaptive LED headlamps are now also available as an option in the updated BMW 5-Series.
On the inside, the updated BMW 5-Series luxury saloon features an ambient lighting can be alternated between orange and white while the iDrive control screen comes with a trackpad on the control dial and also gets a chrome border. The carmaker claims increased storage spaces on the inside and improved fuel consumption with the help of a function that disengages the powertrain when coasting. Another interesting feature includes handsfree boot function (you can simply place you leg below the rear bumper to open the boot).
BMW 5-Series facelift – RearView
The variants of 520d are energized with 2.0-litre four cylinder diesel engine offering 184 hp and 380 Nm torque. This engine does a 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds and gives a top speed of 231 kmph. The BMW 5-Series 525d variant also features a 2.0-litre diesel heart, but this one delivers 218 hp and 450 Nm torque. This one does a top speed of 243 kmph, and does 0-100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds. Top of the line, 530d M Sport features 3.0-litre diesel engine delivering 258 hp and 560 Nm torque, it sprints 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds and top speed of 250 kmph. All variants are mounted with 8-speed ZF gearbox that transits power to rear wheels.
