‘Aria is a Misunderstood Concept’ – likely to be removed from Tata Motors line-up

Aria-Facelift

Tata Aria facelift

Tata Motors had launched ‘Aria’ back in 2010 in the Indian market at a huge price tag of 15 lakhs INR. Since its launch Aria has not obtained the required decent sales in the market but instead it was a flop show from Tata Motors. In order to overcome this, Tata also added frills; launched price cut variants, offered huge discounts etc… All these did not attract customers towards Aria.

A few persons close to the development of Tata’s new SUVs revealed that Tata is evaluating options for Aria and accepted that Aria is a ‘misunderstood concept’ in the Indian market as per the reports obtained from Livemint. Keeping this in mind, Tata Motors is likely to discontinue Aria when new SUV’s from Tata would be launched in 2015.

As a result, Tata Aria would be continued at least for a couple of years in the Indian market. The recent spy shots obtained by our friends at Motor Bash also reveal that Tata is also preparing an Automatic transmission Aria which is at least expected to be developed with the help of recently acquired Land Rover. Stay tuned at BharathAutos to know whether the upcoming Aria would at least win the hearts of the customers in the Indian market or whether Tata Motors would say ‘good bye’ from its line-up.
