2015 Hyundai Verna facelift – FrontView
The Verna has been a stronghold for Hyundai in terms of sales volumes. Ever since it was launched in 2005, it has been racking up the orders, and when the revamped Verna was launched in 2011, it created a Furore, the number of bookings for it was clearly too much for Hyundai to handle and waiting periods went up to 5 months! The Verna is still selling reasonably well even today, but Hyundai is not waiting for the Verna to get outdated before they launch an updated version. They have already worked on the Verna and the next-gen revamped Verna has been spotted testing in China.
In China, the Verna is known as the Hyundai Rena and is having a very good run and the fact that it still is in the top 20 selling cars list, is testimony to this. Hyundai will launch the new updated Verna in China by the end of the year and just in time, as its main competitors, the Nissan Sunny, Ford Fiesta and Honda City have already undergone the cosmetic and technical changes necessary to suit changing market needs and launching this update will help Hyundai maintain its position on the sales charts.

The new car gets redesigned head-lamps, tail-lamps and grille, Hyundai have also incorporated led daytime running lights into the car. These changes are bound to make the Verna look younger and the front of the car would look very different compared to the present car. Since it’s just a facelift, not many technical changes are expected and the same 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrols and 1.4 and 1.6 litre turbo-diesels are expected to power the car, the transmission options include the 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic for the petrol’s and a 6-speed manual for the diesels.
The new updated Verna would be launched in India as well, but at a later stage, probably early or mid next-year. In India, it would directly compete with the likes of, the Maruti Suzuki SX4, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid etc…
