The all-new 2015 Ford Figo hatchback launched in India today, set to compete with the successful Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10. Price starts from Rs 4.3 lakh for the petrol and Rs 5.3 lakh for the diesel variants (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Figo is actually a chopped-off version of the Figo Aspire sedan, this hatchback is the same as the compact sedan till the C-pillar with the Aston Martin-like grille on the front fascia. It gets a sporty rear-end with a raked windshield, a character line connecting tail-gate and a sculpted bumper, even the tail-lamps are borrowed from its booted sibling, overall, the Figo hatchback actually manages to look balanced, relatively.
Like its sedan sibling, the hatchback too gets the same engine options in the exact same tune. The engine line-up includes a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol developing 88 PS and 112 Nm of torque and a 1.5-liter TDCi producing 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque, both mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. And the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine is exclusively available coupled with the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Figo hatchback is available in 13 variants – Base, Ambiente, Trend, Trend Plus, Titanium and Titanium Plus. A total of 7 colours are on offer – Ruby Red, Sparkling Gold, Oxford White, Tuxedo Black, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver and Smoke Grey.
