Skoda Auto India last-month introduced the 2014 Skoda Yeti in Mumbai, priced at Rs 18.63 lakh (ex showroom Maharashtra). Unlike the outgoing model, the Yeti facelift comes only in top-end Elegance trim in both drive options namely, 4×4 and 4×2. So, only two trims are on offer, and that too top-end one’s.

The refreshed Yeti had its first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September-2013 and was displayed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The facelift version now sports redesigned front and rear bumper, bold grille, revised bonnet design, new fog lamps, Bi-Xenon headlamps and LED taillamp cluster. The power ORVMs get a new casing with side blinkers while the sporty alloy wheels add more to its overall design.
On the inside, the Yeti facelift gets Octavia inspired three spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium seat covers, cruise control, upgraded music system. Apart from all these, the SUV sports keyless entry with push button start, electrically adjustable driver seat and new tyre pressure monitoring system. The Skoda Yeti facelift will be offered in seven different color options with three roof colors to choose from.
Power to the Yeti facelift comes from Volkswagen’s trusted 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI engine in two tunes 110 PS and 140 PS. The 110 PS variant makes 250 Nm of torque and is a front wheel drive only whereas the more powerful variant churns out 320 Nm of torque and gets AWD. The 4×2 model is made available with 5-speed manual gearbox while the all wheel drive model gets 6-speed manual gearbox.
2014 Skoda Yeti facelift – InteriorView
As far as safety is concerned, the Yeti facelift gets ABS, braking assistant and a robust body design as well as a state-of-the-art chassis guarantee optimum active safety. Off-road, the car’s smart all-wheel-drive contributes to safe driving behaviour. In terms of passive safety, passengers are protected by a system with 6 airbags, five three-point safety belts, and five head restraints.
For the first time the Yeti will also feature cruise control and the KESSY system. Light Assist, a clever feature is added to the redesigned Yeti for the first time. The Yeti was awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test in 2009 for its exemplary safety features.
