Just after the launch of Nissan Sunny facelift earlier this-month, Nissan India has silently launched an updated Evalia without much fanfare. Looks wise, the Evalia hasn’t really been known as vehicle that reinvents itself. The cosmetic changes offered in exteriors only include Nissan’s signature ‘V’ shaped chrome grille, similar to the one found in the new Micra.

On the inside, the Nissan Evalia facelift gets some updates in the form of gets a faux-wood inserts in the center console, the glovebox now gets appropriate lid and new floor mats too on offer as standard. While the rear sliding window which was introduced in the mild update after the launch is retained in this facelift.

Just like before, the 2014 Evalia too is only offered in the diesel trims and no petrol motor is on offer. It continues to use the globally-proven 1.5-liter four-cylinder K9k engine churning out 85PS of power at 3750rpm and a maximum torque of 200Nm at 2000rpm. With a smooth-shifting five speed manual transmission, the Evalia delivers a fuel efficiency of 19.3 kmpl of diesel (ARAI certified).
Nissan Evalia facelift – InteriorView
The Evalia competes with the likes of Chevrolet Enjoy and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which are the segment leaders, along with the upcoming Honda Mobilio. Of the three, Maruti Ertiga leads with average monthly sales of 5,081 units, followed by Chevrolet Enjoy at 1034 units, while Evalia’s figures are at just 53 units (figures here are last six months monthly average Jan-June 2014).
