2014 Auto Expo – Nissan Sunny facelift officially unveiled

Japanese carmaker Nissan’s sedan Sunny was longtime due for a facelift. It has finally come yesterday on the battleground of the Indian Auto Expo 2014. The facelift version has adapted a number of updates on the interior as well as exterior.

Talking about the exterior, the new Nissan Sunny has got some prominent updates. The foremost of these updates is a uniquely designed grille that features three horizontal slats and chrome inserts. This helps Sunny to match Nissan’s new family look. The designers have reworked the headlights. New fog lamps have also been attached to the lower part of the front bumper. The overall sedan looks much more handsome with its new airdams and chrome highlighting.

Talking about the side exterior, the new Nissan Sunny is based on a newly designed 15-inch alloy wheel. To compliment this further, It also features chrome side molding and ORVMs with LED turn indicators. There is also a little change to the design of the door visor. The rear end of the car has also been given some touch up to boast of a dual tone effect now. The tail lamps have been tweaked and the spoiler now offers LED treatment.

On the interior, there are some significant updates on the console panel. The new central console panel comes with a “Piano Black” cluster. Sound system control button has been placed on the redesigned steering. There has been some minute style changes to the dashboard and upholstery. To add to the driver and the passenger’s comfort, you will find a redesigned gearshift and adjustable headrest for front and rear seats. The chrome doors open in a different style. For infotainment, the central console carries a new 6.1-inch touchscreen DVD player with Bluetooth and navigation features. The newly designed automatic climate control has  digital display for all passengers.

Mechanically, there has been no change in the Nissan Sunny facelift. Hence,  the petrol variant of the car runs on the 1.5-litre engine which can produce a maximum power of 97.7bhp and maximum torque of 134Nm. On the other hand, the diesel model has a 1.5-litre K9K l engine producing 84.8bhp and 200Nm of torque.
