2014 AUTO EXPO – Harley Davidson launches the Street 750 at Rs. 4.1 Lakh

In November 2013, at the EICMA international motorcycle show held in Milan, Harley Davidson showcased the Street 750 and Street 500 models, and announced that these two models would be specifically developed for growing markets such as India. Two months later, at the India Bike week held in Goa, Harley displayed both the motorcycles to keep up the anticipation and the boffins at Harley decided that the Street 750 would be launched first and the street 500 would follow at a later date.

For the Street 750 though, Harley Davidson chose the perfect time and perfect place for the launch, here at the 2014 auto expo held in Delhi. The auto expo is the place where everything important related to the automotive sector in India takes place and it is a highly covered event in the media sphere. By launching the street 750 here, Harley Davidson has got its marketing strategy already sorted.

Harley Davison - Street 750 2                            For the street 750, Harley Davidson has done something radical. They have based the street 750 and 500 on an entirely new platform, the only new platform in the last 13 years. This shows that Harley Davidson has made some changes to their priorities, and has started giving more importance to the growing markets. The Street 750 will be built at their manufacturing facility in Bawal, Haryana and will be exported to other Non-American markets.

The Harley Davidson street 750 is powered by a liquid cooled, single overhead cam, 750cc V-twin power plant, with a max torque of 65 NM. Aesthetically, one would not feel this was a downsized Harley, because the level of detail found on other Harleys is found on this Harley too. From the front, the Street 750 looks almost like Harley’s flagship model, the V-rod and while viewing the side profile, one would immediately notice the tear-drop shaped fuel tank, the all-black exhaust, the chrome lined bore and the belt driven seven spoke, all black alloy wheels. The design of the tail-lamp though, tends to soil the overall look of the motorcycle.

Harley Davidson - Street 750 3                         The Street 750 was launched at Rs. 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and bookings will be opened from the 1st of March, 2014, across all 13 dealerships in India.
