The Indian motorcycle market is quite a lucrative one, with manufacturers doing everything possible to become successful in this country, as the chairman of the DSK-Hyosung Joint venture said, the Indian superbike has grown manifold and is doubling almost every two years despite the economic gloom and fall in domestic demand. Characterized by the world’s youngest population under 35 years that typically enjoys global lifestyle, tastes and preferences that match their style, India offers huge potential for high-end superbike manufacturers.

These ‘High-end’ manufacturers are even willing to go to the extent of developing an entirely new product, ground-up, especially for the Indian market, and Korean motorcycle manufacturer Hyosung has done just that with the Aquila 250. The Hyosung Aquila 250 has been in the making for quite some time now, and at the Recent Auto Expo held in Delhi, Hyosung finally launched the Aquila 250.

Aesthetically, the Aquila 250 looks every bit like a cruiser should, with all the curves at exactly the right places and it looks great in its two-tone color scheme. As expected, it has been showered with a generous dose of chrome all over, including the alloy wheels and most of the engine parts.

It is powered by a DOHC, fuel-injected, 249cc, Liquid cooled, 75-degree V-twin with a max output of 26.21 BHP @ 9500 rpm and 21.37 Nm of turning force@ 7000 rpm and drive is sent through a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox and the 5-speed gearbox quite frankly is the only let-down among all the technical aspects of the motorcycle, as one would expect at least a 6-speed one from a motorcycle of this pedigree.

Last but not the least, the Price! The Hyosung Aquila 250 was launched at Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Along with the Aquila 250, Hyosung also had on display at the Auto Show, their future products for the Indian Market, the RT125 D (125 cc), GD 250 N (250 cc) and Comet 250 (250 cc).
