Yamaha has recently launched the 2013 V-ixion 150 in Indonesia, which is a naked version of the YZF R15. This bike was first showcased at the 2012 Jakarta Motor Show. The bike is similar to the R15 except for the stylish body panels. The naked look of the bike is popular in the South East Asian countries including Indonesia, where Yamaha already holds a good market position.

The V-ixion 150 is more like a commuter bike and the seating and the riding positions have been modified to suit the rider and the pillion. The headlamp cluster, profile, rear panels and the wheels have received a major facelift. The engine of the V-Ixion 150 is the same as of the R15, but with a slight lower power rating. The 4-stroke, 4 valve, SOHC, liquid-cooled engine generates an output of 15bhp at 8500 rpm with the max torque of 13.1Nm@7500 rpm. The ECU unit on the V-Ixion 150 is also improved for better fuel efficiency. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission which transmits the power to the rear wheel. The suspension system and the Deltabox frame in the V-ixion 150 are also borrowed from the R15 which play an important role in better handling of the bike.

Although there is a good chances of the V-ixion 150 to fetch good sales number in India, Yamaha has no intentions to launch the V-Ixion 150 in our market.
