Fiat is all-set to debut new Panda 4×4 at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on September 27. Better described as Super Panda, the vehicle is fitted with an off road inspired body kit, sturdier underbody and a number of shiny aluminum accents. The 4×4 Panda will have 15-inch alloy wheels, skirting and black trim with skid plates of the contrasting type at both in the front and back, fog lamps and a raised muffler.

It also gets new colour schemes like Silica orange and Toscana metallic green with options for three-colour seats in the interiors. The company is offering up standard equipment such as manual climate control, CD/MP3/Radio, electronic rear-view mirrors, electronic stability control, eco-leather detailing and remote central locking. And plenty of additional options are available, as well.

Power for the Panda will come from one of two engine options, a 75hp 1.3-liter MultiJet II diesel that gets 30% more torque than its predecessor or an 85hp 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo, which gets a 40% hike in torque. Both will be electronically coupled to a 6-speed gearbox that features a ‘torque on demand’ transmission system that features two differentials. It is the first permanent four-wheel drive managed by an electronic control unit, which distributes to the front and rear automatically based on an analysis of vehicle signals.

Suspension for the 4×4 is an independent McPherson front end meshed with an interconnected wheel with torsion beam layout in the rear. This one will be lighter and provide more comfort to the driver and passengers then the previous generations’ semi-trailing arm.

In addition to the 4×4, Fiat will be launching the Panda line-up in two more variants – Trekking and Natural Power. The two-wheel drive Trekking will combine the looks of the 4×4 version with Traction+ technology which improves the handling on slippery surface. A dual fuel (methane and petrol) TwinAir Turbo engine powers the Natural Power variant.
