Earlier this month on 15th March 2012, we reported that the Hindustan Motors has silently launched the Mitsubishi Outlander 7-seater priced at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). There was no official confirmation from Mitsubishi then, although the details were available with select dealers in India.

However, the company was probably waiting for the Union Budget to officially announce the vehicle. Now in an official announcement which came today from Hindustan Motors, Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 has been officially launched at Rs. 20.55 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi which is about 3% (Rs 60,000) higher than the pre-budget price which seems to be a reasonable hike in the price.

Mitsubishi’s 2012 Outlander SUV comes with keyless operating systems, highly capable Rockford Fosgate premium 710 watt music system with 6 CD changer and USB port, row seating with tumble function, split tail gate, paddle shifters and cruise control. The seven-seat Outlander retains the same features as the five-seat variant and is more like a modified version with jump-seats in the rear that can only accommodate kids.

The vehicle boasts of a high contrast meter combination with leather upholstery and 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel. Advanced audio controls go a step further in keeping with the vehicle’s luxury and features. The 7 seater is replete with 2 additional rear seats for making it an ideal family vehicle.

Powering the new 2012 Outlander is the same old 2.4-litre MPFI petrol engine that is seen on the 5-seater model, which produces 170PS of power and 226Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The company is claiming a mileage of 10.3km per litre. However, there is no diesel engine option.
