The all new Maruti Suzuki Swift is still around a month or two away but that does not stop the company’s dealers from accepting bookings from customers. Maruti Suzuki dealers in both Mumbai and Bangalore have been accepting bookings for the 2011 Maruti Swift, which is expected to be priced around Rs. 6 lakhs. The new Swift will be powered by the same engines which do duty on the current model. If you are as eager to get the new Swift without having to wait, make sure you put down anything between Rs. 20,000-50,000/- to secure a speedy delivery.

Both petrol and diesel models of the 2011 Swift are expected to arrive in India, with the 1.2 Liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3 Liter Multijet Diesel engine continuing to do duty on the 2011 Swift. The 2011 Swift will be slightly larger both internally as well as externally and could feature start-stop button in the top end variant.

Also, while there is a lot of buzz about the 2011 Swift getting a Variable Valve Timing technology, which could boost power output of the 1.2 Liter K-Series engine to about 90+ Bhp, our sources tell us that Maruti does not have any plan of bringing the VVT engine to India in the near future.

Right now, the biggest worry at Maruti is the appreciating yen, which could result in price escalations, of the 2011 Swift as almost 15% of the new Swift has critical components that are imported directly from Japan. The yen’s rapid rise, could potentially cause pricing pressures which may delay the launch slightly as Maruti evaluates its options.
