2 new Tata ‘Falcon’ models coming next-year, apart from ‘Kite’ compact sedan?

It is now a well known fact that Tata Motors is not doing very well. Improper utilization of resources, inadequate After Sales Support and lack of enthusiasm in their products are a few of the main reasons for this. But now, that is all set to change according to reports. Tata Motors is planning for an onslaught of new, sensible products for India, and will launch four entirely new cars in the next two years.

The first two of the four will be launched at the same time i.e. during the festive season of 2014. The names of these two cars are unknown at the moment, but their code names are ‘Falcon 4’ and ‘Falcon 5’. While the Falcon 4 is a hatchback, the Falcon 5 will be a compact sedan and both the cars will be based on the same platform.

We had reported in our recent article on upcoming compact cars about Tata making a compact sedan based on the Manza, and we reckon, it’s the ‘Falcon 5’ compact sedan. The ‘Falcon 5’ compact sedan will be powered by a 1.2 liter turbo-petrol engine or a 1.3 liter multijet turbo-diesel.

The next car to come out of the Tata stable will be the XO based hatchback. This car will be launched in 2015 and we have no other details apart from the fact that it will be based on the XO platform from Tata, and the next vehicle will be a compact sedan named the Kite, which is also likely to be based on the XO platform. The Kite is a low cost car which will be positioned a notch below the Indigo eCS, about which we had written in our recent article on upcoming compact sedans.
